Time Blocking

When I worked in corporate world, I learned the art of time blocking. Actually, in middle and high school this concept was introduced through classes being structured to a similar schedule; we had A and B days and instead of taking 6 classes every day for a shorter duration, we took three each day, alternating which three, for longer periods of time.  To surmise, I’ve implemented this approach for well over 20 years now!  #YouKnowHowIKnowYoureInYour30s #YouReferenceThingsIn20YearIncrements. Anyhowwww...since I transitioned to work for myself from home, I’ve created a time blocking schedule here as well. It’s typically much more flexible than any other time blocking I’ve been part of, but it’s a good system. When you know what you’re going to do or at least have an idea to begin your day, I find it works well and let’s me start out focused even on days I wake up feeling less than on my game. It’s funny looking back, I never realized in 7th grade block classes, it w...

What I do for a living

I'm feeling the love for my work a tad extra these days.  Truly, I'm grateful to say I am happy 90% of the time when it comes to my profession.  10% spared of course for just plain shitty moments inevitable to occur.  These times are typically reserved for technical issues out of a normal human's control.  #notbitterpartyofone In short, I appreciate getting to do what I love for a living, what I earned my education in, which in today's world isn't all that common BTdubs, and because it affords me the chance to be a creative professional.  I love nothing more than getting creative and letting that flow.  I love applying said free flow to churn said creativity into efficiency.  That part reallly makes me happy. I saw the photo in this post on Uncommon James 's Instagram account and had an epiphany; I see each client as one of these beautiful bouquets full of color and design, ready to be neatly organized and designed to meet a vision, a goal, a d...

Sundays are for...

Nutrients and self care. With Sunday being an all intended day of rest, I like to reserve at least a portion of time for just that.   I like to rejuvenate and replenish so an extra glass of kale tonic hits the mark these days. Writing. Setting up blog posts for me personally, writing for clients, scribbling out another chapter of a book, Sundays are most definitely for writing. Shaking and baking. Sundays bring an air about them that's just meant for prepping at least some parts of your world for the week.   Laundry catch-up, food preparations, outline intentions and commitments and goals to achieve for the week ahead. Faith and sweat. I personally like to get out for a nice walk.   A hearty blood pumping, sweaty walk.   Somehow the sweat always leads to the faith part.   My mind naturally clears and I always find clarity for faith and grace alike.   This might be my favorite combination. Loving on lovies. Spend time with those...

Writing under the radar

I love coming here just to write.   We all need an outlet and this is mine.   I'm enjoying taking 30 minutes daily to write.   Whatever is on the tip of my mind is fair game for subject and however long or short is the right answer.   It's divine to have this space. Writing here centers me.   I need my own creative outlet.   Especially because professionally I am constantly using creativity for work projects and I'm the type of creative who needs to nurture my own to be most effective otherwise. Any other creatives feel this too? Image Via

I blog because...

This was my unplanned Friday night last week.  Sometimes you just have to step back from to-do's, from the get done lists, and get to having some extra fun.  It's amazing what a pitcher of bud light and some french onion soup can do to rejuvenate the soul. I think lately about different things with blogging.  Why do I come here?  Am I doing it wrong because I don't X, Y, or Z it like other bloggers do?  Is it right that I do A, B, or C?  What about the content?  Is it a hit out of the park, a swing and miss, or is it completely overlooked? These are all questions all bloggers face.  I know because we all talk about it and that to me is quite comforting.  The one thing I do know about blogging is that there is not one set right way to do this thing. Whether you do sponsorships, or update about your weekend brunch plans, or link ups, or share a million pictures of your kid/dog, or product reviews----if you're doing it because you wa...

A girl walked into Blogger 4 years ago...

4 years ago this month, I logged into Blogpost and decided to publish a blog. Said blog was meant to serve as a place for all of my thoughts to transpire, my hopes and dreams to dance across the page, and for me to truly cultivate my personal voice. At the time of starting this space, I was doing more "professional" writing gigs, working for others, with a few publications in my area. I still cherish those opportunities, but this space offered a little nook of the online world all my own. Shoes, cookies, odes to flowers- whatever struck my fancy struck these pages.                                                       Just carrying on here in blogland As years have passed, and occasional lapses in posting have occur...

Monday Motivation

I spruced up this ol'blog space today. This was prompted because I keep finding things that remind me how much I love writing. The picture above is 3 gifted journals, which had become buried in a storage bin, that I've received over the years. These were from approximately ages 24-27 for me. For those late to class, I turn 30 in September. Talk about recognizing growth, yet appreciating what stays the same. Ambitions and aspirations are consistent, better picker of battles apparent. Essentially, much like this blog land of mine, my hand written "posts" exemplify someone learning who they are and who they strive to be. There may or may not also be some consistent accessories talk. But, that's just muah. Perfect timing to find these; today's Instagram Photo Challenge is #MondayMotivation. Hollaaaaaa! All that said, I felt it necessary to give Ohgabetta a little L-O-V-E. Time for new journal pages to be drafted.

Blogtober 2014-Day 1: If I won the lottery

October 1st, like a nice smack to the face. Is 2014 really almost over? How time flies when you're having fun an adult with a full time job, and a home to always vacuum/tidy/pledge, and dogs(hence the constant vacuuming) and a husband/boyfriend/boo/live-in-lover (whatever I call him this week) to look after. Today, I am thrilled to kick off Blogtober 2014 : This opportunity is brought to the blogging world by two super cool cats known as Helene from Helene in Between and Taylor from The Daily Tay . The challenge is that you write for all 31 days of Halloween, er, October. Sorry, in our house, we already massively decorated for my favoritest holiday in all the land. I love it so much so, that Roni is not speaking to us until November. Why you ask? Well.... Worst.Dog.Parents.Ever Any how, back to the matter at hand: Blogtober . Day one and the prompt is.... If you won the lottery you'd... Well now. Truly a million dollar question. The irony here is that I...

What I love about blogging

I have been blogging for approximately 4 years now. This has been for myself and for different media outlets, and I can surmise it as this: I love it. I love the freedom, the feel goods, and the various personalized spaces. I enjoy the freedom in relation to the various subjects one can talk about. I suppose it's for the same reasons people like shows like Good Morning America, The View, and Wake Up San Francisco with Danny Tanner. While bloggers talk about all kinds of things, some have niches of course, and that's why I enjoy going back to the virtual spaces/coffee talk sessions that I do. All blogs whether about fashion, food, family and friends, and anything that falls between those areas, provide different vantage points to appreciate. The biggest common denominator between all the blogs I follow is the strong spirit of communication each author brings. People who blog share stories and interactions for all kinds of reasons. I am partial to each one I encounter ...

Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing

Alright, Alright, Alright, Allll-right! (Thank you Matthew Mcconaughey for this amazing line from the Golden Globes). Friday, you sure are pretty. Lawd, I am beyond thrilled to see you. The agenda this weekend: -lounge -brunch -mimosas -friend surprises -cook something extravagant and delightful -third to last homework assignment -finish the amazing fashion book from my aun-tay -drink hot tea -pet my dogters -watch HGTV w/my bub I will also squeeze work in but it's okay because it is a short day. Also, the plan to hatch some blogging ideas exists and I will be working on a client promotion project as well. So, there we have it. My projected weekend itinerary. These kinds of weekends, low key and fabulous, is where it's at. Plus, it's still cold out and this asthmatic Floridian needs to check herself before she wrecks herself. What do you have planned? See ya Monday Funday blogging world! Til we meet again, M

Belated Weekend Recap: BBQ, pumpkins, & other adventures

My weekend was quite enjoyable. Hunter and I relaxed yet got things done. It was a fantastic balance. Let's get on with it, shall we? Let's get the obligatory dog pic out of the way. This is merely one of the random that are snapped of these beasts, natch: Winter Garden Farmer's Market y'all. This is a wonderful market with so many awesome vendors. We went for both biz and for pleaz. I was interviewing an artist so when I was done we wandered around for pics and scenery. Gorgeous area, btw. We had some down home deliciousness for lunch, aka Harry and Larry's BBQ . If you ever find your self in the area, don't think twice about this stop. If you don't find your self in the area, find a reason. Their brisket and cole slaw is no joke. Now this next weekend recap is a special one indeed. Hunty and I purchased new pots and pans. We were gifted a wonderful set of pans when we first moved in together years ago and they have served us well, the...

A Little Wordy Recap for September

So September has come and gone and that is wonderful/sad. I love September because it is so transitional and has a fresh appeal. Such a good, love filled month so without further ado, away we go........... I so got to cover Mall at Millenia Fashion Week and it.was.super.fun. Watch here! It was challenging to capture shots in a packed crowd of people and exhilarating at the same time. If I could do this all day, err day, you betcha I would! A mid month bach party with a theme of black ensembles and pink accessories caused me to commit myself to a group since I may just have a problem. Again, these are just some of my jeweled goodies that have some sort of pink in them. Shameful? Eh, maybe. Then to coincide, while disassembling my outfit from the day one night, I looked down to actually catch myself saying "too much"? Obvi it was lack of sleep and I realized I is who I is: I reached another yearly milestone of age and celebrated many times at many plac...
