Roni ate a crayon

The middle part. Perhaps like real food, is this the juiciest part? I don’t know why or what got into her but she not usually isn’t a newer or eater of non edible items. My girl is sophisticated; enjoys edamame with a little sea salt, broiled chicken, and sweet potato dog cookies, she’s not some gremlin with an anything goes pallet. The number one thing that has changed with Roni since Pepper went to sleep would be her appetite. She eats, yes, but she’s veryyyyy particular. She won’t eat just to eat anymore. Like dogs do, she was always quick to scarf down food or treats because she worried Pepper would beat her to it. She be little but she is fierce when it comes to her grub.                             Roni, girl!  You don't need to eat crayons! I'll meal prep for you, too! Anyhow, we don’t love her new decision making abilities a...

Spaghetti Squash and Kale Chips

Making healthy substitutions is one of my favorite things.  This beauty right here is spaghetti squash, topped with clean marinara sauce, grassfed beef bites, and kale chips was pure bliss.  It was hearty, homey, and healthy and to me that's a win. Always impressed with the angel hair like texture of spaghetti squash, which happens to be my top two favorite type of pasta.  Penne is the other, naturally. Have you tried this delicious substitution? mkh

Healthy Crockpot Chicken Chili

You say cornbread, I say don’t forget the tortilla chips .  Made this healthy crockpot chicken chili the minute the weather hit below 75.  Judging by the numerous chili dishes popping up on all social media feeds, I'm not the only one inspired and to all I say: kudos.  Celebrate this glorious weather and get down with your wonderfully excited for fall self!   For this recipe , I altered the spices slightly and garnished with fresh spinach and cheese.  Excellent way to enjoy fresh greens in their most nutritious state 🍲😍🙌!

Meals on meals on meals

Been a healthy cooking, clean eating fool extra lately.  I ain't mad about it! Up top: Croissant with avocado and the utmost deliciousness that is the Holy Grail: Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel Seasoning Blend!!!   This stuff is good ingredients, incredibly fair priced, and honestly is the most magically tasting addition to toast, veggies, and popcorn, this far.  Can't wait to add it in to other meals as I go. Middle: Aidell's Chicken and Apple Sausage with a fabulous Pero Family Farms blend of kale, green beans, and peppers, and a yummy sweet potato.  Sweet potatoes are having a major moment in my life. Bottom: Lemon and garlic salmon with a blend I threw together of cauliflower, sauteed onion, and spinach, and baked zucchini chips. Can I get an amen for healthy, clean eating?  Hot dog, it makes me feel good!  By the way, not a one of these meals are expensive or inconvenient to prepare.  No reason we can't eat ...

Let me get a kale tonic!

Can we just have a moment for this beautiful and fabulous breakfast from a few days back?   I mean, come onnnnnn! First Watch , you got it going on!

3 Clean Eats Wish List Items

Photo Via So I study and review a lot of different food and brands more than ever.   I'm very much conscious of what I'm feeding hunter and myself.   I think of the expression "Your biography becomes biology" and yet inspires me to research ways to make good healthy food. I've found some utterly awesome accounts to follow on Instagram mostly and I lean on these folks for recommendations.   Currently on my list are the following items: Jill's Mediterranean crackers Kraut Sprouted bread-type to be determined... A fave Instagramer of mine shared a recipe using these crackers as flour for healthy, bomb chicken tenders.   I am so so intrigued, as is hunter. I like Kraut and think it will be good to mix in to salads or veggie bowls for added natural flavor. Apparently sprouted bread is better for digestion.   I like the sounds of that so going to give a whirl. Stay tuned for follow up recipes and creations.

Egg Salad Sammy

Whipped up some hard boiled eggs, mixed with Greek yogurt, sliced some grape tomatoes, and a few splashes of hot sauce served with toasted white bread.  Wa. La.   Clean, healthy, and filling. I like simple food and I like easy preparation for it.   Bam.

Clean

For me January is about intending more than resolving.   Fighting off the dreaded holiday hangover is perhaps as grueling and basic as it sounds and requires a very direct approach to feeling human again: -Simple, clean ingredients -plentiful and planned sleep I usually feel the effects of how I treat my mind and body from the week before's treatment.   I've felt like a zombie the first week of January, seemingly from the previous week's holiday food/drink/lack of sleep bender. This meal was quick, easy, healthy, and filling.   Yummmmm.....mmmm!

How Do You Keep Clean?

My favorite thing to eat lately is spinach artichoke hummus and kale chips.   I am obsessed a little actually.   It's just so yummy and made with real ingredients and not bogged down with unpronounceable items. This is the stuff I look out for more than anything else.   Nowadays so many people will tell you do this, try that, eat 7.5 meals daily of no less than 23 and 46 yada yadas.   I'm exhausted even attempting to provide examples. I feel best when I eat clean food and drink lots of water.   That's just what works for me.   I like to go to places like Lucky's Market and Whole Foods to find products to try here and there.   Pick up a soup, grab different premade meatballs, try out a new chocolate; basically it's a fun way to scour deals and explore new items that serve ingredients of better substance. I don't do full shopping at either of these stores.   I find their best use for us is to try new things.   I love the ease ...
