Simple blessings

I’m lying in bed, next to a snoring husband and my baby girl dogter sprawled out cozy as can be, while the rain falls down upon our roof. Gone are the days of spending a Saturday night downtown at a club, throwing beers back in a honky think, or galavanting around to anywhere with the lights on. And I’m not mad about it. Not even a little bit. There is tilt no place I’d rather be than with hunter, Roni and our comfy sweet little home happily netflixing and writing this here post. It’s a good feeling indeed. I count my blessings extra on nights like this and say a few additional prayers for love and comfort to continue on. I truly don’t ask for more than health, happiness, and love. Anything else is gravy. To simple blessings for all.

To plant a garden

I love this quote. It’s presently my background image because I enjoy it that much. I found on Instagram somewhere (I forget which account-oops, bad blogger!), and I truly love positivity and this quote here, this one right here, embraces my sentiments exactly. Nowadays it’s a fast paced world, everything soars by at record speed. In the words of my favorite teenage delinquent and yours, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around every once in a while it’ll pass you by.” - Ferris Bueller Dear God, please tell me no one here is so young they don't know this without googling(!!). This message gives me a gusto for go getting while taking a few steps back to breathe and be. Gardening, while not my forte, is hugely therapeutic for everyone I know who does it so I’m channeling that good good zen zen when I think of this.  Feel inspired by today and get excited for tomorrow, love bugs. mkh

2018

Feeling ready and excited for what’s next and at peace with what’s been. I believe 2017 was a really really great year. I achieved a lot of goals like practicing mindfulness more, living with grace, and working smarter not harder. It feels freeing and joyous almost to look back on a soon to be old new year and say damn, I rocked my intentions I set for 2017. Hunter and I got married this year and it was pretty amazing. We celebrated being together for 10 years first and then hosted a wedding dinner party to commemorate. We could not be happier with how everything turned out. Food was delicious, all our favorite humans were in one space, and that space came together to represent what we envisioned all along. Love that 2017 is the year of the #VeryMarriedMunterhegans. And honestly, not much has changed; he still leaves socks just outside the hamper and I still update his daily to-do list 3 times. 2017 was also difficult. My mom injured herself at work and spent the ...

Holiday Celebrations

Via       The always fabulous and wonderfully creative Kelle Hampton, blogger of Enjoying the Small Things , shared this super fun holiday bucket list on her Insta stories and you bet your hot cocoa I snagged a screen shot!  She's shared others before and I always appreciate her way of celebrating the heck out of all the things.  She is truly #goals when it comes to loving her tribe and embracing life daily.  I promptly sent this to my girlfriends with a "want to give it a go as best we can???" message and each committed at least partially. As I'm finding out more each day, I am interested in what I've come to think of as elaborate simplicity.  It's insanely not complex; I like to celebrate every day stuff with little extras people often reduce to only "special occasions".  I'm a strong believer in wearing the good shoes, using the nice dishware, and throwing down some confetti if it means you're enjoying the now while appreciating a...

Now and then

So I'll be back a different day when I don't have a ridiculous amount of sinus pressure plaguing me but couldn't wait to pop in to share a fantastic throwback sent to me:   Oh and to share a much more recent shot of those two youngins above: mkhr

Fall into fall

It's happening; I'm dreaming of a cool breeze, fun patterned scarves, and Halloween movie marathons.  I WANT FALL AND ALL IT HAS TO OFFER.  I'm exhausted from the excruciating high temperatures and look forward to this time of the year coming because of this.  "It's going to cool off, it's going to cool off," I probably mutter 12 times a day to myself. Give me some Remember the Titans, turkey chili, Halloween socks, and a cozy sweater STAT!  Throw some pumpkin cream cheese swirl cake in for good measure, too. In the meantime, out of effort for living in the current season of life, I'm enjoying some of the summer pleasures I'll yearn for around February: watermelon, cherries, sundresses, neon nail polish (I mean, really this doesn't live in one season for me), and longer nights full of light.  That's probably my least favorite part of fall; I don't love how dark it gets so early.  Eh, in every season I suppose a little darkness shall...

I glitterally can't

Some days you wake up with the best intentions and the highest spirit for what's to come in that very special 24 hour window of time.   And some days you must employ your feel good exercises a little extra. I had a day like this very recently; try as I might I kept hitting wall after wall of frustration: -an extensive work project was almost complete and then poof!   It drifted off into the land of make believe, a mere figment of imagination, only to be revisited in my dreams.   -a burner on the stove decided to literally burn up the inner plate liner and created that terrible burnt smoky smell in the house for hours.   This happened seemingly out of no where, no liquid boiled over, no obvious spills, I was heating water in my teapot! -my hair is peeling after recently having it colored.   This happens every so often when I color it, as I'm sensitive to the dye, and really there isn't much I can do besides a deep conditioning treatment...

Grand Evening

My ideal way to decompress at the end of any given day: -create healthy comfort food -give my hair a good wash -lather on a charcoal mask -do a nasal rinse -post up on the couch -catch up on the news and update my to-do list and grocery list Absolute heavenly recharge, folks.   Boomshakalaka.  How do you decompress and simultaneously amp up a day to come? Pepper feels me mkh

Prayer of gratitude with a prayer of love

Scrolling Instagram recently, I came upon my fave Kardashian sister Khloe's photo: Via What spoke to me more so was Khloe's message: "❥ Gracious God, in the busy-ness of my day, I sometimes forget to stop and thank you for all that is good in my life. My blessings are many and my heart is filled with gratefulness for the gift of healthy living, family and love. Lord, thank you for walking with us through the seasons of our lives. I thank you most of all for your unconditional and eternal love. Amen ❥ Kourtney taught me to always start my day with a prayer of gratitude and end my day with a prayer of love!" I am in love with this messaging.  Some days are extra wonderful full of all the things that make you happy.  Other days you have to work at it and your patience is tested approximately 32 times.  All days are a luxury we should never take for granted, though.  I believe in this logic of the Kardashian sisters and I appreciate this lifestyle and mentality...

Life is Beautiful

Whilst scrolling Instagram earlier today, I came upon this picture: Everything this says is the absolute truth. We all have our problems but really, if I threw mine in a pile with everyone else, I more than bet I would take mine back. Honestly, I believe if we all found appreciation for each others troubles, we would naturally diminish said troubles just simply by way of compassion. Just some food for thought. Speaking of.... So what is a little Friday night love fest on life's beauty without some delicious sushi? Happy weekending, muffins! Until we meet again, M
