Calling all Friday favorites!

Favorite News Story : Y'all. If this story about window washers at a children's hospital, dressing up as superheroes to surprise the kids, does not melt your heart, we need to check for it's existence. So many good feels came over me scrolling through it. Favorite Recipe Idea : Two ideas were featured by the lovely gals at LaurenConrad.com and what they came up with sounds incredibly appealing. Ready for this?...Veggie Cupcakes and Vanilla Protein Popcorn...So cool, I know! Now, I'll be real honest here, and say veggies and cupcakes do not usually go together. However, my infatuation thrives for this juxtaposition. Favorite Sale : One of my top 3 spots to shop is Francesca's . And I can gladly say they are securely holding their spot due to the amazing sales they like to throw my way. On Tuesday, I was just minding my own business, scrolling Twitter when alas, a tweet advising that day only, there would be dresses on a good sale. So naturally, after pe

That time we almost got arrested in Chinatown

To quote the late, great Sophia Patrillo from Golden Girls, picture it, New York City, summer of 2009. A young couple visiting from Florida found their way to Little Italy. As they carried on with their usual banter when deciding on a meal spot, a young, Asian woman wearing a white Polo hat walked behind the girl, and with so much as a whisper, she purred "Pursessss?" Immediately, the girl twirled and made the ever so slight transition towards Chinatown, leaving her beau with haste to keep up with the lovely girl who offered such an enticing offer. After all, the plan was to head this way after lunch anyhow. This was surely a sign! As they kept a brisk pace, the gentleman of the Florida girl was offering what in retrospect could only be a premonition of what was to come. "Megan, are you sure about this? " "Should we trust her?" "You're really walking fast." "Shush, Hunter. Keep up." After a little bit of a trek, th

What I love about blogging

I have been blogging for approximately 4 years now. This has been for myself and for different media outlets, and I can surmise it as this: I love it. I love the freedom, the feel goods, and the various personalized spaces. I enjoy the freedom in relation to the various subjects one can talk about. I suppose it's for the same reasons people like shows like Good Morning America, The View, and Wake Up San Francisco with Danny Tanner. While bloggers talk about all kinds of things, some have niches of course, and that's why I enjoy going back to the virtual spaces/coffee talk sessions that I do. All blogs whether about fashion, food, family and friends, and anything that falls between those areas, provide different vantage points to appreciate. The biggest common denominator between all the blogs I follow is the strong spirit of communication each author brings. People who blog share stories and interactions for all kinds of reasons. I am partial to each one I encounter

3 Things I know

I found myself wondering about what I really know about life at this time of mine. Like, what would I bestow upon a young grasshopper looking for guidance? Totally random thoughts started pouring out of my brain. Some useful, some, not so much. I can ultimately advise the following insight of 3 things I know about life right now: 1. Floss! It is so important and the true secret behind every thing else dental. I know it can be a pain, un-enjoyable, and maybe gross. Butttt, it is still necessary. Think about it; many other "adult" things are super annoying to stick it out and do and this is no different. This is even more crucial because it's directly related to your personal and physical well-being. 2. College. Should you, shouldn't you? My logic, is to go with it. However, not necessarily right out of high school. Who in the actual hell knows what subject matter they wish to become an expert for at 17 or 18 years old? Exhibit A: I graduated high s

Fridayyy Favoritesss

Friday, you beautiful ol'gal you! This day just gifts pep for our steps, amiright? One thing to accompany a Friday, at least in my world, is reflection of the week. I love to sit back and think about some highlights and excitement that occurred. It's positive energy being recycled and you know what they say about recycling; it saves the earth. I'm ultimately doing my part to save the universe. Let's get this party started, hmmm? Favorite chef moment: I made a Greek pasta salad with plenty of love, olives, and feta and a cornbread cake, which totally called for sour cream and out of habit, I grabbed cream cheese. Fortunately, it was quite the serendipitous turnout and got rave reviews from my coworkers at our summer office party :) Favorite accessory: Like walking on air y'all. They were a steal of a deal and gift from my bubsy, and man they are on point. Favorite #throwback pic: my Mama, Nana, and uncle D Favorite follow up story: Raju has a g

Holiday Weekend, where have you gone?

My, my, my that holiday weekend flew by! All the usual feelings are present and accounted for: happiness from the greatness we experienced; frustration with getting back to the daily grind of reality; and a certain sadness that stems from it all being over. 4th of July signifies the middle of summer so we are now on the descend of the season. I won't be the saddest to see the heat go, if it ever does, but I am eager for fall! I know, I know, no need to get ahead of ourselves. Don't worry, I'm not going to start ordering my white hot chocolate and demanding it in the red Starbucks cup. Yet. Although, I did bust out some new Lauren Conrad boots and tights the other day. I scored the kicks from Kohl's , which were at a severe, severe discount. I got an even better deal than what the site lists them for. Basically, people, it's happy trails ahead! Over the holiday weekend, Hunter and I ate, drank, and relaxed a plenty. It was fabulous. There was lunch wi

5 Things I love about 4th of July

With the 4th at the end of this week, I thought I'd draft my personal top 5 favorites about the ol'red, white & blue celebration. Shall we? 1. I'm going to get right to specifics here and say freedom. While I do feel there are many freedoms still needing some follow through , this country is a great, great land. I'm thankful, proud, and happy to represent this land. 2. Hot dogs, lemonade and festive desserts ! These are staples in our house for the holiday. Throw in a bur-gah, oy! Delighted is an understatement. 3. A break from the day to day; I have a few days off and I am more than thrilled to spend time with the dogters, sleep in, get outdoors for walks and maybe some tennis (total fave sport to play), and really just pretend I work from home and get all kinds of fun things done. 4. The fashion. I adore it whether its: -how people dress their kids/animals in their most festive attire -various magazine layouts -or seeing different street styles.
