When a Man Loves a Mouse

Once upon a time two weeks ago, I was minding my own business, when the seductress of my dreams sent me an email.  Yes, that's right; my dreammaker known as Kate Spade, emails me weekly.  It's kind of our thing, she emails me stylish and fabulous things, and I drool and suck the air out of the room gasping with delight at alll the pretty things. This particular email, with a subject of Into the Wild, made mention of new goodies on her website.  I said to myself, "Don't even look.  You're not in the market.  You have enough leopard.  You don't care for zebra.  Maybe just a peek to assure yourself."  By the way, welcome to my inner thought process. As soon as I clicked, my heart stopped, my jaw dropped, my good intentions went out the window.  There, in all her glory, as part of the Cat's Meow Collection , was a MOUSE satchel!!!!!! Quick back story: My grandpa has called me Megan Mouse my entire life.  He does a happy squeal and giddy g

I blog because...

This was my unplanned Friday night last week.  Sometimes you just have to step back from to-do's, from the get done lists, and get to having some extra fun.  It's amazing what a pitcher of bud light and some french onion soup can do to rejuvenate the soul. I think lately about different things with blogging.  Why do I come here?  Am I doing it wrong because I don't X, Y, or Z it like other bloggers do?  Is it right that I do A, B, or C?  What about the content?  Is it a hit out of the park, a swing and miss, or is it completely overlooked? These are all questions all bloggers face.  I know because we all talk about it and that to me is quite comforting.  The one thing I do know about blogging is that there is not one set right way to do this thing. Whether you do sponsorships, or update about your weekend brunch plans, or link ups, or share a million pictures of your kid/dog, or product reviews----if you're doing it because you want to, then I believe you

We went to Chicago and all we got were amazing memories!

Back in February, I decided I wanted to surprise Hunter with a vacation to explore a new spot.  With both his 30th birthday and college graduation impending, I knew I wanted it to be a marvelous location fit for a really good, hard working man. After researching, I felt Chicago would be a good spot based on the fact neither of us had ever been, the food pics through all of social media are continuously salvation central, and the art scene potential for my man was too good, as Hunter enjoys art quite a bit.  This ended up paying off incredibly well, more to come in pics below. In short, Chicago did not disappoint.  Not one bit.  Culture, beautiful sights, tremendous food opportunities, and we managed to explore 40 miles, walking alone, in 3-1/2 days.  In no particular order, my favorite parts were: -the Skydeck experience - Carmine's - Over Easy Cafe in Ravenswood -Staying at the Kimpton Allegro  -Walking everywhere, taking in all the sights, there was something to see ev

It's been a long day without you, my blog

I stepped away from my blog a bit longer than I expected to. I meant what I said in my last post, about being excited to come back and recap my Chicago trip and I still plan to do that.   Here is what I have come up with: + vacation mind set + typical summertime blog lag + busy busy bee daily work life =absent blog gal   Butttt!  We shall resume to regularly scheduled programming soon kids. This is me loving blogging from an elevator in Chicago. Ok, maybe it's just me loving Chicago but I swear I was thinking of blogging about this! I love blogging.  However, I learned long ago to listen to myself about not forcing the cause. I'm starting to feel the creative itch and need for my outlet again so we're right on track to climbing out of this slump.   It's funny; I get tired from other daily happenings so I end up straying from my creative expressions, but then ultimately learn over and over again that I need those creative areas to keep m
