What I do for a living

I'm feeling the love for my work a tad extra these days.  Truly, I'm grateful to say I am happy 90% of the time when it comes to my profession.  10% spared of course for just plain shitty moments inevitable to occur.  These times are typically reserved for technical issues out of a normal human's control.  #notbitterpartyofone In short, I appreciate getting to do what I love for a living, what I earned my education in, which in today's world isn't all that common BTdubs, and because it affords me the chance to be a creative professional.  I love nothing more than getting creative and letting that flow.  I love applying said free flow to churn said creativity into efficiency.  That part reallly makes me happy. I saw the photo in this post on Uncommon James 's Instagram account and had an epiphany; I see each client as one of these beautiful bouquets full of color and design, ready to be neatly organized and designed to meet a vision, a goal, a d...

Working for Social Cap

My new professional life is in full swing.  I am so so grateful to start every day brewing a cup of fab and fierceness, getting into the office (across from my bedroom), checking the list made the end of day before for organized reference on a new morning, and grinding on multiple projects because if I or Hunter doesn't who's going to do it??? Life of a small business owner and I wouldn't change it for a minute! We are growing and sorting what works, what can use improvement, we hustle and flow.  It's the stuff dreams are made of honestly.  I don't take it for granted and recognize that I've been working towards this my entire working career and for that I am so appreciative. This far in my life, my professional background is in hospitality, higher education, editorial journalism, and corporate communications.  I value these experiences and industries tremendously but I gotta say, I will work 80 hours a week for ourselves instead of 40 for anot...

I love what I do

The Social Cap has me all (insert heart eyed emoji).  I absolutely love what our business does for others and in turn for my passion to do what I love for a living.  I love immersing myself in all the content and articles to continuously educate myself to then be able to apply towards client strategy.  Sometimes when I am working on projects, whether blog posts or studying analytics, I think to myself "Is this real life?  Am I really living my dream and helping others with theirs?". I want more and no less so I believe that's a good indication I am living for my passion.  That's been an important motivator since my editorial intern days.  I wanted/needed/had to make a way to love what I do.  For a decade, I worked for others doing the same tasks, learning and growing, and now it's through my own small business.  I never want to take for granted the good moments, the even better ones, and for sure during the more difficult times.  This is w...

Weekending

Last week was divine chaos. I'm working my normal FT work schedule; working on two personal business ventures; taking a social media certification program; and working on an extra project for a work event that's happening in March. It's fun and rewarding and I love every second of it. I just have to jot down times to come up for air. On Saturday we attended a friend's business anniversary party. His shop celebrated one year and some change in existence and I can't say enough how empowering it is to know people who are actively living out dreams, who are getting up every day to get after it all over again. Hunter and I took in the beautiful Florida winter weather for brunch outside as well. Below is a Kobe Beef burger with a'egg atop and Bang Bang Shrimp Benedict with asparagus. Glitter and gold and everything I dream of basically. I saw this meme a few weeks ago and I have not stopped laughing. What can I say, I'm easy to humor. I positively...
