Halloween, my queen

My most favorite holiday hands down is today.  Freaking LOVE this holiday so much, in fact, I mentioned it in my wedding vows.  True story.  I decorate as early as first week of September and I don't care who judges that.  I know I sound like a lunatic and it's fine. I guess it's my favorite holiday because I have awesome Halloween memories as long as I can remember.  I've always had super fun costumes since this holiday speaks to my creative spirit.  Could be my fave holiday because I enjoy spooky/scary movies and stories year round anyways.  Lastly, of course, the snacks ain't half bad.  #AlmondJoyFTW This picture grabs my heart.  We are missing our Pepper girl so hard and one of the biggest reasons we are functioning even at all is because of that little gal right there.  She is adjusting for sure but she has not let her love us hard nature waiver one bit.  We're in this together that's for sure. Happy Halloween to all and to all a safe, spooky,

Healthy Crockpot Chicken Chili

You say cornbread, I say don’t forget the tortilla chips .  Made this healthy crockpot chicken chili the minute the weather hit below 75.  Judging by the numerous chili dishes popping up on all social media feeds, I'm not the only one inspired and to all I say: kudos.  Celebrate this glorious weather and get down with your wonderfully excited for fall self!   For this recipe , I altered the spices slightly and garnished with fresh spinach and cheese.  Excellent way to enjoy fresh greens in their most nutritious state 🍲😍🙌!

Pepper Ann Roberts

Last Wednesday we said “see you again” to our sweet, brilliant, beautiful dogter Pepper. We’re hurting and immensely sad but we are grateful for the 14+ years she gave us.   When Hunter chose her from her litter, it was a bit of a Marley and Me situation; he said “I’ll take the quiet, easy going one in the corner with the white on her tippy toes”. It was quickly discovered the true PEP in her step and the amazing and often rambunctious character she possessed. Pepper has been the absolute ideal blend of loyal and spunky while full of mischief and comfort. She has stolen many a sandwiches and ate far too many socks with little to no remorse. To even out her chaos, she cemented herself as a fierce protector and the sincerest friend one could ever hope for. Truly, there isn’t a person in our household who Pepper wasn’t the best friend of. Pepper Ann Roberts, the greatest good bad dog there ever was. We love you and will continue to adore you and celebrate you.

Holiday Celebrations

Via       The always fabulous and wonderfully creative Kelle Hampton, blogger of Enjoying the Small Things , shared this super fun holiday bucket list on her Insta stories and you bet your hot cocoa I snagged a screen shot!  She's shared others before and I always appreciate her way of celebrating the heck out of all the things.  She is truly #goals when it comes to loving her tribe and embracing life daily.  I promptly sent this to my girlfriends with a "want to give it a go as best we can???" message and each committed at least partially. As I'm finding out more each day, I am interested in what I've come to think of as elaborate simplicity.  It's insanely not complex; I like to celebrate every day stuff with little extras people often reduce to only "special occasions".  I'm a strong believer in wearing the good shoes, using the nice dishware, and throwing down some confetti if it means you're enjoying the now while appreciating a

What I do for a living

I'm feeling the love for my work a tad extra these days.  Truly, I'm grateful to say I am happy 90% of the time when it comes to my profession.  10% spared of course for just plain shitty moments inevitable to occur.  These times are typically reserved for technical issues out of a normal human's control.  #notbitterpartyofone In short, I appreciate getting to do what I love for a living, what I earned my education in, which in today's world isn't all that common BTdubs, and because it affords me the chance to be a creative professional.  I love nothing more than getting creative and letting that flow.  I love applying said free flow to churn said creativity into efficiency.  That part reallly makes me happy. I saw the photo in this post on Uncommon James 's Instagram account and had an epiphany; I see each client as one of these beautiful bouquets full of color and design, ready to be neatly organized and designed to meet a vision, a goal, a deadline.

Now and then

So I'll be back a different day when I don't have a ridiculous amount of sinus pressure plaguing me but couldn't wait to pop in to share a fantastic throwback sent to me:   Oh and to share a much more recent shot of those two youngins above: mkhr

Chaos in Crowds

It's crazy how much I don't like going into stores during certain times anymore.   And by certain times I mean mostly anytime between open and close.   I kid mildly, but really I've come to have a real distaste for running into a Target on a Saturday.   We have a good sized town center 4 miles from my house with most every basic need and then some for retail options.   I've always loved this lovely outdoor mall but in recent years, it takes a lot for me to go to it any ol'time of day. My ideal time to frequent it is during the week on maybe a Monday, Tuesday, or a Wednesday between the hours of 8am and about 1pm.   Crowds are minimal, those that are there also seem to be on the same wavelength of appreciating less chaos, and inventory is at peak.   This.   This is when it exudes its holy land esque style for me. Hunter has never been one much for store hopping, here and there of course, but he's quite content setting me loose to handle anything we

Maaaaaybe

It's starting.   My anxiety is at peak.   Maybe the new season, which leads us into the end of the year chaos which I love, yet initially I feel slight panic.   It passes but I've noticed the last few years this happens. Maybe because we're getting married in a week and while we're so excited and we're prepared, mentally and logistically, it's less than a week!   So much done!   So much to do!   We're getting married!   Eek! Maybe because Pepper is winding down.   She's still okay; she's eating and not in blatant discomfort.   But she's a 14 year old lab with muscular atrophy and a couple bumps we need to get checked out.   Her spirit is strong and present but she's also tired and more feeble.   We're seesawing a terribly difficult situation and trying to navigate as thoughtfully as we can.   I think our hope and prayer is to get through the wedding and hopefully the holidays before thinking further. Maybe because the state
