Reset on a Weekend

One of my favorite things in the world is laying in bed on a weekend night watching Netflix movies while my Hunter and my Ro nap next to me and I scroll Instagram home design and wellness accounts as well. This is particularly enjoyable after an extra long week, I might add. I feel calm and giddy alike throughout this downtime. I am able to relax and unwind, often taking mindfulness breaks and enjoying a komboocha or lemon water simultaneously. It couldn’t be any more basic. This recharge makes me naturally happy creating reflection and gratefulness for everything in my life. I’m a hard worker with determination and I like to reach goals and make new ones so I feel like I’m on more than I’m not. I need to reset like this because it reiterates what it’s about most at the end of the day; health, happiness, and an attitude of gratitude. What is your approach to bring it all back to center?              ...

Time Blocking

When I worked in corporate world, I learned the art of time blocking. Actually, in middle and high school this concept was introduced through classes being structured to a similar schedule; we had A and B days and instead of taking 6 classes every day for a shorter duration, we took three each day, alternating which three, for longer periods of time.  To surmise, I’ve implemented this approach for well over 20 years now!  #YouKnowHowIKnowYoureInYour30s #YouReferenceThingsIn20YearIncrements. Anyhowwww...since I transitioned to work for myself from home, I’ve created a time blocking schedule here as well. It’s typically much more flexible than any other time blocking I’ve been part of, but it’s a good system. When you know what you’re going to do or at least have an idea to begin your day, I find it works well and let’s me start out focused even on days I wake up feeling less than on my game. It’s funny looking back, I never realized in 7th grade block classes, it w...

What I do for a living

I'm feeling the love for my work a tad extra these days.  Truly, I'm grateful to say I am happy 90% of the time when it comes to my profession.  10% spared of course for just plain shitty moments inevitable to occur.  These times are typically reserved for technical issues out of a normal human's control.  #notbitterpartyofone In short, I appreciate getting to do what I love for a living, what I earned my education in, which in today's world isn't all that common BTdubs, and because it affords me the chance to be a creative professional.  I love nothing more than getting creative and letting that flow.  I love applying said free flow to churn said creativity into efficiency.  That part reallly makes me happy. I saw the photo in this post on Uncommon James 's Instagram account and had an epiphany; I see each client as one of these beautiful bouquets full of color and design, ready to be neatly organized and designed to meet a vision, a goal, a d...

What's in my bag?

J'adore June is just past the halfway point and it has been a blast and a half thus far.  To kick off yesterday, you know Monday, Sundays' bitchy sister, the topic asked what's in my bag... Which got me thinking, I can pretty much surmise what's in my bag any given day as: a)Professional b)Pretty c)Otherwise Fabulous Allow me to elaborate... Professional: - My beloved planner from Target.  I believe in social media and the tech part of life, however nothing beats pen to paper planning and organizing. -Business cards all day; for both my social media business services and for my baking business with my two gal pals.  Never throw away a business card! -I'm a writer so I always pack a pen or ten.  Even with a cute, smaller clutch I throw one in my bag. In day to day, I carry my stack in an adorable little case. Pretty:   -My cutesy Clinique makeup bag that is full of life's daily essentials: -lots of lip lip stuff -floss ...

Decor yo desk

When one must work within the confined space of a desk, it is fun to have feel good items to surround yourself with. I work in an office setting and since the day I stepped into this setting I have been accumulating many-a-office supplies. Anything glitzy, anything to jot numerous notes a day on, anything that makes my heart sing, well I'm all for it. I'm happy to say that while I have purchased many items for Le desk of mine, I have also been gifted tons too. I get very happy when I receive an item someone saw that made them think I would appreciate it. I believe if more professionals had more fun desk flair, they would be eager to get to work to use it. I'm not saying you need a pinata above your head, but I mean slight improvements would be a good start. Say, for example, you have a stapler on hand, why not doll it up with a little sparkle? Who doesn't like sparkle???? When I hand mine over and I sense judgement, well, I am definitely taking note of who you...

2013 y'all

2013 is looking like a good year so far. I've maintained my resolutions the ENTIRE year. What? It's only a day in? So? Go with me on this one: -Clothes have been selected, accessorized no doubt, the eve before they are to be worn. I did this all the time growing up, one of those things my mom taught me. It can make all the difference for a busy morning trying to walk dogters, get in some cardio, prepare a healthy/light/resourceful-use-of-groceries-breakfast-for-two (no stopping even for coffee this year. I'm doing realllyyy good!) I even put my main go-to bags in a roll call order. Gang's all here!! -Our fridge is neatly assorted into strategically placed fresher foods to eat first; ready to grab bags of sorted fruit, snacks for work or workouts; coffee cream choices readily accessible right up front aimed to motivate freshly brewed cups of joe. I am really putting my previous failures of resolution to shame this year! -I've made balanced, ...
