Blogs are for Books

Hello out there to the land of getting back to routine, back to schedules, back to the exciting, the mundane, the anything in between.  Yes folks, tomorrow is the first Monday for many of getting back to work life, school life, meal prepping, outfit planning, you know the drill. I feel productive already.  I grocery shopped, meal prepped a few days worth of calculated and healthy goodness, did some light yoga practices, bedding's washed, the rest of laundry is done.  Did I mention I only woke at noon today?  Indeed I did.  I stayed up late, like 2:30am late, reading The Girl on the Train , which I totally recommend BTW.  I started it yesterday and like Forrest, I just felt like running reading.  323 pages later, I decided to sleep in and let my body rejuvenate a plenty.  Those are a couple goals of mine this year: read more for leisure and sleep enough.  Both make me insanely happy and help me be the best me. I've got two books on deck....

#favsinagram

I used to read for leisure a lot. I got away from it a bit, mostly because of commitments to school reading material the last few years. Such a poor excuse but it's all I got. After making a vow to myself to get better at this again, I'm proud to report I am succeeding. Since finishing Bossy Pants and The List last week, which were such excellent reads, I am on to the next. Currently, I'm reading Not That Type of Girl by Siobhan Vivian, also the author of The List , which I clearly can't stop raving about . That's what happens when you're an amazing author. I have plans to get two other books of hers as well. This past weekend, we cleaned and organized that bookshelf above in le pic, making it much easier to find a good read. Gang's all here; professional literature, fictional fun reads, and my beloved biographies are all present and accounted for. So many # favsinagram just living the good life! How do you keep tabs on your books? Until...

What I'm reading

I've read this one before, back when it first came out. It is pure gold. I love it so much I've actually gifted it twice to my mother-in-law. Accidentally. I'm pretty sure the second time, Sharon (my MIL), who is always lovely and very kind, smiled nicely and sweetly said, "Oh this one again." I love that woman. Also, you're welcome, Tina, for the double sale. I'm excited to drive back in and can't wait to giggle as much as I did the first time. Weeeee for reading! Until we meet again, M

Treat yo self Tuesday

Lately, I'm feeling a pull back to some creative, fictional explorations in the form of my writing. Over many years, I have started different books here and there and haven't actually finished one. Said the writer, right? Standard story: I get an idea, start to divulge said idea into chapters, then lose my mojo for it. So here I am eager to begin another story again. The previous statement is easily a contender for the title of my biography at some point in my future, isn't it? Anyhow, moving along... I decided that I needed to get back to my love of leisure reading and promptly made my way to my neighborhood Target to fancy myself a new read for Treat Yo Self Tuesday . This book is an easy yet impacting read. The story line is high school based, but adulthood relevant. It's unique but relatable, which in my opinion is an excellent balance. One of the strongest aspects as well, is that there are 8, yes 8 , main characters and each is clearly defined very ...

Blogtober Day 25, Favorite Book

This blog post topic has me stumped. I cannot name one favorite book! I love many stories; autobiographical, fiction, educational, the comics, you name it. Maybe I am having a tough time now to name a set favorite because I haven't read one that was riveting. I was just talking to a good friend about how we used to read more than we do lately and I hope to come back to this question again with a more solidified answer. At any given time, my coffee table hosts current reads such as... I will say funny beats all. I love to read really funny books like Chelsea above there. You just can't go wrong. Tell me allll about your favorite reads please. Until we meet again, M

Well Read

Oh, Sunday night. Ugh. This is my 175th post for this blog though. At least that makes the sting of a new work week looming a little less sharp. I've been laughing non-stop at the above listed Chelsea book. Man, her stuff is seriously as funny to me, as it was when I first ever read her work. Like, I'm talking spit up a little on yourself laughing. I snort approximately 6 times a chapter. I also snagged Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, which I read when I was in high school. I figure it's always a good reminder to not sweat, and it couldn't hurt to apply some of the lessons all over again to life. I wish I remembered which tips I highlighted 10 years ago so I could see how it would fare to what I deem important now. Coulda, woulda, shoulda got myself a crystal ball back then, to know I'd be a blogger looking to have a post idea. And of course I found a book of Mister Rogers' life quotes and lessons. Naturally, because Mister Rogers was a propon...
