Some believe in destiny, some believe in fate; I believe happiness is something we create

Well, weekend you did not disappoint. I had so much fun I decided to do my weekend recap post on Wednesday. Fancy me that!

On Saturday, a friend of mine was surprised for her birthday brunch (with mimosas naturally) making it a glorious success:

Happy birthday Cassandra!

So then, Ronda and I says, hey it's Saturday. Let's hit up the good ol'ale House to grab a few bevs with my Hunty. We had a good time y'all!

Then I needed a little nappy and some Advil. I woke up in the late evening to enjoy some random movies a la television by the likes of Grandma's Boy, She's All That, and then some House Hunters. What can I say? I didn't choose the thug life, it simply chose me. No, I don't think I got that right exactly...

Sunday presented homework and work so ehh, but then! The Grammys were on!!! Weeeee they were so good! The fashion, the laughs, the music!! Personally my overall favorites of the night were Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar, Queen Bey and JayZ, and of course Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Madonna, and the always fabulous Queen Latifah, who married 34 couples, of all sexual orientation, on live tv! History made my friends and it was beautiful. Same Love for Life. Damn right I support it <3

So that is it for this terrific midweek, previous weekend recap.

Oh and this is my last week of grad school. Officially, it's done after this. So yea, there's that...

Til we meet again,
M

Simple blessings

I’m lying in bed, next to a snoring husband and my baby girl dogter sprawled out cozy as can be, while the rain falls down upon our roof. Gone are the days of spending a Saturday night downtown at a club, throwing beers back in a honky think, or galavanting around to anywhere with the lights on. And I’m not mad about it. Not even a little bit. There is tilt no place I’d rather be than with hunter, Roni and our comfy sweet little home happily netflixing and writing this here post. It’s a good feeling indeed. I count my blessings extra on nights like this and say a few additional prayers for love and comfort to continue on. I truly don’t ask for more than health, happiness, and love. Anything else is gravy. To simple blessings for all.

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w...

What a timely topic to write about, seeing as its Sunday, and I LOVE Sundays! They make me very happy. Lots of things make me happy though. I am so thankful to say that! So in no particular order, allow me to kick back this beautiful Sunday and let some pictures tell you more about what makes me happy: The pawple who are always waiting and happy when you get home: Well, sometimes... This cat: Amazing company to go through life with: Food Trucks: #TBT: Laughing like this: Seeing the world through the eyes of the littlest people: Fashion: Kate Spade in particular: Family, with a highlighted focus on our generation: I feel very fortunate for what and who makes me happy. Tell me, what makes you happiest in all the land? Until we meet again, M
