When smartwater asks...

Today smartwater tweeted:
“we’re inspired by the clouds every day. what inspires you?”

And this got me thinking…

I’m not very good at picking one thing. Ever. I love lists, I adore semi colons, and I’m more than a little wordy in 109% of every thing I say or do. Needless to say, the thought of picking one thing that inspires me daily, is a smidge challenging. A good challenge though and one that I accept!

Initially, love came to mind. Good ol’L-O-V-E. Aww, how sweet, right? Love from my people, love for them, love of things, all of it. Then I thought about it more and realized that while love is grand, maybe that’s not the thing that inspires me. Motivates yes, but inspire? Hmm…

Passion…
Words…
Tales of strength…
Family…
Ambition…

Well shoot. I’m failing rather well at picking one thing that confidently surmises what inspires me, ay?

And as I contemplate, it comes to me!

Life. Plain old day to day life inspires me tremendously. Be it the happiness from it, the mess of it, the joy, the sorrow, and the overall existence of living that allows for this type of reflection. Your life, my life, our life, it’s something that lends more excitement and empowerment than anything else.

So to you smartwater, I say Life is the thing that inspires me every day. Here's to living it, loving it, and for goodness sake, to using my beloved ; !

Til we meet again,
M

Time Blocking

When I worked in corporate world, I learned the art of time blocking. Actually, in middle and high school this concept was introduced through classes being structured to a similar schedule; we had A and B days and instead of taking 6 classes every day for a shorter duration, we took three each day, alternating which three, for longer periods of time.  To surmise, I’ve implemented this approach for well over 20 years now!  #YouKnowHowIKnowYoureInYour30s #YouReferenceThingsIn20YearIncrements. Anyhowwww...since I transitioned to work for myself from home, I’ve created a time blocking schedule here as well. It’s typically much more flexible than any other time blocking I’ve been part of, but it’s a good system. When you know what you’re going to do or at least have an idea to begin your day, I find it works well and let’s me start out focused even on days I wake up feeling less than on my game. It’s funny looking back, I never realized in 7th grade block classes, it would begi

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w
