Pepper Knows

I wonder if pepper remembers her life with just the boy.  Ya know, before she met me, her mother.  I had a friend once say dogs don't have a memory.  They don't understand us, they understand tone.  This friend said you could basically say god awful things to a dog but in an upbeat tone and they would wag their tails and come to you happily.  I call bularky.

My girls know so much.  They do understand us.  I mean, we have to spell out some words because they understand so well.  We rile Roni up with certain catch phrases and she's a lunatic.  She's like the scrappy little friend at the bar who jumps on someone's back when you're trying to leave.  We watch her tune in to what we say when we're taking about her or Pepper.  She gets it.

So, back to the question at hand, does Pepper remember life when it was her and the boy only?  She and I definitely have a bond; she's my protector and my bear sized pillow, and truly a ride or die homie, but there is something extra she loves about her boy.  Either way, I'm happy she's ours and we hers.

What do you think dogs know?

Woof,
M

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w

Reset on a Weekend

One of my favorite things in the world is laying in bed on a weekend night watching Netflix movies while my Hunter and my Ro nap next to me and I scroll Instagram home design and wellness accounts as well. This is particularly enjoyable after an extra long week, I might add. I feel calm and giddy alike throughout this downtime. I am able to relax and unwind, often taking mindfulness breaks and enjoying a komboocha or lemon water simultaneously. It couldn’t be any more basic. This recharge makes me naturally happy creating reflection and gratefulness for everything in my life. I’m a hard worker with determination and I like to reach goals and make new ones so I feel like I’m on more than I’m not. I need to reset like this because it reiterates what it’s about most at the end of the day; health, happiness, and an attitude of gratitude. What is your approach to bring it all back to center?                                                                               mk
