Fridayyy Favoritesss

Friday, you beautiful ol'gal you! This day just gifts pep for our steps, amiright? One thing to accompany a Friday, at least in my world, is reflection of the week. I love to sit back and think about some highlights and excitement that occurred. It's positive energy being recycled and you know what they say about recycling; it saves the earth. I'm ultimately doing my part to save the universe. Let's get this party started, hmmm?

Favorite chef moment: I made a Greek pasta salad with plenty of love, olives, and feta and a cornbread cake, which totally called for sour cream and out of habit, I grabbed cream cheese. Fortunately, it was quite the serendipitous turnout and got rave reviews from my coworkers at our summer office party :)

Favorite accessory:

Like walking on air y'all. They were a steal of a deal and gift from my bubsy, and man they are on point.

Favorite #throwback pic: my Mama, Nana, and uncle D

Favorite follow up story: Raju has a gf! And no more chains on his beautiful, bodacious legs. PS: To the monsters who let him live for 50 years on this earth like that---There is a very special table reserved for you in hell. Read the original story here if you're due for a good ugly cry: http://www.eonline.com/news/557548/elephant-cries-tears-of-joy-after-being-rescued-from-50-years-of-suffering-and-abuse

Favorite inspiration: Two words: John Legend. The man is a genius and serious crusader for the female gender. Have a single doubt? Hear his beautiful song and see the wonderful video made to accompany it: http://vevo.ly/Q2VvFB

Andddddd I'm dropping the mic. Hopefully your Friday brings all the goodness you could wish for. Have a fabulous weekend!

Til we meet again,
M

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w...

Simple blessings

I’m lying in bed, next to a snoring husband and my baby girl dogter sprawled out cozy as can be, while the rain falls down upon our roof. Gone are the days of spending a Saturday night downtown at a club, throwing beers back in a honky think, or galavanting around to anywhere with the lights on. And I’m not mad about it. Not even a little bit. There is tilt no place I’d rather be than with hunter, Roni and our comfy sweet little home happily netflixing and writing this here post. It’s a good feeling indeed. I count my blessings extra on nights like this and say a few additional prayers for love and comfort to continue on. I truly don’t ask for more than health, happiness, and love. Anything else is gravy. To simple blessings for all.

Blogtober Dayyyy 27! A Letter To Your Younger Self

First of all, this is my 203rd post! I slid right on by the day I hit 200, probably in a haze from writing so many days consistently like this. So I am now thrilled to announce I am moving right along and haven't tapped out. For that I have Blogtober 2014 to give credit to. I am so so so determined to meet my goal of writing all 31 days. Thank you again for linking this up Helene and Taylor !! Now, on to today's topic: A Letter To Your Younger Self Dear 22-27 year old Meggie, Hey, it's me, 29 year old you. Just wanted to check in and cover a couple things that I've learned to be true, so if you want to go ahead and use this insight sooner, have at it. So a few things still stand that I've mentioned to 17 year old you and as I recounted the ten things I've learned since high school . Please keep drinking water over anything else and avoid the hair bleach. But you know, being 29 and thinking back, the ages 22-27 were a huge chapter of your life a...
