"I just like to smile. Smiling's my favorite"-- Elf

One of my favorite celebs to follow for the last six or so years is the one, the only LC from Laguna Beach and The Hills. Always classy and innovative, the Orange County gal has maintained a down to earth, honest personality despite being thrust into the spotlight and becoming one of the most admired stars of her generation. Of all the role models for young girls and grown women to have Lauren Conrad flies high above the other contenders.

Recently launching two sites, one being Lauren's personal website completely redone and refabulized, http://www.laurenconrad.com/ and the second entitled http://thebeautydepartment.com/ which is co-authored with her hair and makeup stylists, you can expect both sites to be fun, informative, and just helpful on everything from hair to decor to inspiration. The stylists, Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine, provide nothing short of amazing advice in their given areas of expertise. On Lauren's specific site she has been doing a list of favorite things weekly, typically on Fridays. What an awesome way to reflect on happy thoughts and to be sure you're taking time out of busy schedules to think of the things providing sanity amidst the chaos.

I don't mind this idea one bit. It's absolutely fantaz! Without further ado, onward with my weekly favo's:

*Fave snack: grapefruit
*Fave quote: What other people think of you is none of your business
*Fave old habit back with a vengeance: Coffee!!
*Fave accessory: Multi gem cocktail ring, fave fave favorite!
*Fave website: http://thebeautydepartment.com/ ; http://www.laurenconrad.com/
*Fave literature: People Style Watch June 2011
*Fave fashion trend to try: Peach lipstick
*Fave moment: Accompanying my sis-in-law( :) ) to her doc appt where we found out another little gent will be joining our lives (EEEKKK!!! Yay for matching sweater vest pictures at every holiday of both handsome little devils)

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w

What makes me happy...Blogtober Day 19

What a timely topic to write about, seeing as its Sunday, and I LOVE Sundays! They make me very happy. Lots of things make me happy though. I am so thankful to say that! So in no particular order, allow me to kick back this beautiful Sunday and let some pictures tell you more about what makes me happy: The pawple who are always waiting and happy when you get home: Well, sometimes... This cat: Amazing company to go through life with: Food Trucks: #TBT: Laughing like this: Seeing the world through the eyes of the littlest people: Fashion: Kate Spade in particular: Family, with a highlighted focus on our generation: I feel very fortunate for what and who makes me happy. Tell me, what makes you happiest in all the land? Until we meet again, M

Reset on a Weekend

One of my favorite things in the world is laying in bed on a weekend night watching Netflix movies while my Hunter and my Ro nap next to me and I scroll Instagram home design and wellness accounts as well. This is particularly enjoyable after an extra long week, I might add. I feel calm and giddy alike throughout this downtime. I am able to relax and unwind, often taking mindfulness breaks and enjoying a komboocha or lemon water simultaneously. It couldn’t be any more basic. This recharge makes me naturally happy creating reflection and gratefulness for everything in my life. I’m a hard worker with determination and I like to reach goals and make new ones so I feel like I’m on more than I’m not. I need to reset like this because it reiterates what it’s about most at the end of the day; health, happiness, and an attitude of gratitude. What is your approach to bring it all back to center?                                                                               mk
