Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo has been one of my fave holidays to celebrate for many, many years. The tides have changed to where I don't day drink on it or have salsa down my bathing suit top before 11am anymore, but still it's a personal favorite. I'm a "grown up" now and try to keep the celebrations under control until at least 3pm. This year marked the 7th Cinco Hunter and I experienced together. We chose Taco Tuesday at our neighborhood Tijuana Flats with some sides of b/light and queso. This did not disappoint, my friends. Scrumptious as always, low-key like not many May 5th's before us. Happy Cinco y'all! Until we meet again, M

I'll look back on this and smile because it was life and I decided to live it

I know, I know, somebody's been a really bad blogger and that somebody is me. I'm here, I have no fear, I'm ready to rock. To be honest I have absolutely no excuse other than I plain didn't want to write anything. Inspiration was lacking to put thoughts outside my head and that's pretty much it. I love the feeling I have coming into today's post; I am eager and anxiously excited to get some words down and share the ton of pics I have that will aid in recapping where I've been. Since we last chatted, tons of fun life moments commenced so in no particular order: My good friend Ronda, her sweet fur gal Tessa and I attended the Food Truck Bazaar in Avalon Park. This was amazing; the weather was clear and sunny, the food choices were plentiful and delectable: I even managed to share the above photographed cupcake with Hunter when I got home instead of scarfing it down myself :) We helped my dad celebrate another year of life and managed to complete...

I love the person I've become because I've fought hard to become her

Weeeeeeee! It'sss Fridayyyyyyyyyyy. Thank the accessory gods this day arrived. Who doesn't love a Friday, hmmm? As soon as I read the quote that is the title of this post, it brought the biggest smile to my face. It was one of those a-ha moments, one that brought a bout of reflection. Every thing I have, every achievement I've earned, every screw up I've caused as a self-sufficient "adult"; I did it . I moved from my mom's home at 20 years old and did not have much of a game plan other than I was going. I had never even driven on a highway! There I was, shaking, as each semi flew past my wittle Camry that was packed to the brim with all my jewelry life belongings at lightening speed. There were good times and rocky moments that had me question my decision early on. Was I too hasty? Was I going to crawl back home defeated? What was my major even going to be??? Umm, and how exactly does one survive on $25 a shift serving??? I learned quic...

You are a beautiful cupcake in a world full of muffins

I think it's good to remind ourselves every once in a while that weird is good. Scratch that it's great. It's easy to fall under spells of what's considered "normal" and let others trick us into thinking what sets us different makes us off, losers, whackos, fill in the _____. Normal smormal bore-mal. What is this mythical normal you speak of and what on earth does it have to do with me? It makes me sickly-sad to keep hearing that bullying is still a thing. Stop trying to make bullying happen! It isn't going to happen win! (Always good to throw a Mean Girls reference in when harping on the disgusting act of bullying). In honor of letting our "freak flags" fly, I'd like to point out some things that are key to my weirdness aka my loveliness just the same: 1. The term RAT is our house is a term of endearment. Bubsy rat(Hunty or me), fat rat(Peppy)(PS This is not a negative spin with the use of the word fat. Peppy is my squish and ...

Project Self-Love

I've been a big fan of Whitney over at I Wore Yoga Pants To Work for quite some time. She speaks honestly and has a hell of a sense of humor. We are roughly the same age and therefore her references to many things are fanfreakingtastic and from circa the same time I was growing up. Anyhow, as I scrolled my twitter feed and hit to view her post this AM, I sat mesmerized by her words. For the record, Whitney is never short on brilliant ideas to blog about and today was nothing less than this. To surmise, Whitney discusses self love and begs the questions on loving yourself; not only looking for flaws in images; not dissecting pictures of yourself for for the sake of not seeing what you deem perfection; it's about looking beyond that and truly seeing the real life beauties in each of us and loving who we are in the background/day to day life of that picture. It's an amazing post and I really can't even do it justice to describe any better than her. Do yourself a f...
