Blogtober Day 9: #TBT Best or Worst Halloween Memory

Yessssss Halloween! It is my favorite, without a doubt, hands down!! I love love love Halloween more than any other holiday. The spookiness, the creative costumes, and the overall happy and exciting presence it brings with it each passing year.

So because of this intense love, I have manyyyyy happy, favorite Halloween memories and the pictures to prove this:

Oh, the days of downtown Whorelando on Halloween y'all:

Remember approximately 2006-2008ish, when Bret Michaels was attempting "to find love" over, and over again? We loved that hot mess express so Hunter was him and I of course was his rock of love:

I don't want to brag, but with my boos from work, we were part of Bro White and the Seven Dwarfs last year in our company's contest and we won!

Then that night a fabulous scarecrow and her goblin guy...

Throwing back the Halloween love full force. Hey girl!:

I love this holiday!!!!!!

As for one specific memory, I do recall going trick or treating around the age of 12-13, with my mom, uncle, and cousin Nicholas. He was about six or seven. We lived in a big neighborhood with tons of houses and kids and it wasn't unusual to see swarms of people on a given street doing their best to get a sugar high.

So here we were, going up to one house in the 'hood with a particularly extravagant and decorated yard, complete with a stand up, full size coffin at the front door. Right as we were making our way past the howling machines and fake cob webs spun up everywhere, my mom yelled out for me to make sure I watched Nick extra close and to not lose him. With so many people at this same house, it was a bit overwhelming to make our way towards the candy givers.

As we stood in line and waited our turn, both Nick and I were eying the stand up coffin. I remember saying to him, "That thing is off. Someone is in there." As I was stating this, the woman at the door said "Oh no honey, no one's in there, you're good" and she even threw a few extra snickers in our bags with a smile. Uh-huh, sure.

As soon as we turned to escape, we heard the chainsaw roar to a start and away went the draping over the frame of that coffin. Out ran some otherwise nice neighbor man weirdo screeching at us to runnnnnnnn!

Well, that's what we did. I took off, so did Nick, but his little baby bird legs could not keep up. As I was quite a few steps ahead, I recalled my mother's words to keep Nick close, and with swift motion I stopped, turned, grabbed Nicholas and ran like Forrest Gump. So fast in fact, that we literally almost hit the people's fence and had to quick pivot so not to decapitate one of us. The whole time I had Nick by his little flailing arm just pulling him with me.

As we made it to safety on the street, we were met with hysterical laughter from my mother, uncle, and the rest of civilization. I kept saying, "Well, you told me not to forget him." I was met with more tears streaming from laughter. Real supportive, people.

And that is just one of my favorite memories from the spectacular day that is Halloween.

Until we meet again,
M

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w

What makes me happy...Blogtober Day 19

What a timely topic to write about, seeing as its Sunday, and I LOVE Sundays! They make me very happy. Lots of things make me happy though. I am so thankful to say that! So in no particular order, allow me to kick back this beautiful Sunday and let some pictures tell you more about what makes me happy: The pawple who are always waiting and happy when you get home: Well, sometimes... This cat: Amazing company to go through life with: Food Trucks: #TBT: Laughing like this: Seeing the world through the eyes of the littlest people: Fashion: Kate Spade in particular: Family, with a highlighted focus on our generation: I feel very fortunate for what and who makes me happy. Tell me, what makes you happiest in all the land? Until we meet again, M

“Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life.” –Bill Cunningham

I love this bear I saw one morning awaiting my cup'o'joe at Starbizzy. Precious does not begin to cover it. Fashion is one of my absolute favorite things in life and I enjoy all opportunities to participate with it. Shows, viewings, up front, backstage, you name it and I'm there. Fashion is a chance to express yourself in all kinds of ways. You can keep things at center, meaning you are who you are personally and personality wise, but you can explore new physical you's by partaking in fashion choices. I absolutely loved this outfit I assembled together last week. Bright, cozy, and it allowed the ability to factor in extra fun accessories. Wearing this made my day that much brighter in other aspects too. Even when life moments happen and you can't avoid doing certain things, aka being an adult basically, at least you can feel happy because you are in fact wearing a rainbow. See? Perspective. Glass way full of color, rising over the top. Forget that h
