Blogs are for Books

Hello out there to the land of getting back to routine, back to schedules, back to the exciting, the mundane, the anything in between.  Yes folks, tomorrow is the first Monday for many of getting back to work life, school life, meal prepping, outfit planning, you know the drill. I feel productive already.  I grocery shopped, meal prepped a few days worth of calculated and healthy goodness, did some light yoga practices, bedding's washed, the rest of laundry is done.  Did I mention I only woke at noon today?  Indeed I did.  I stayed up late, like 2:30am late, reading The Girl on the Train , which I totally recommend BTW.  I started it yesterday and like Forrest, I just felt like running reading.  323 pages later, I decided to sleep in and let my body rejuvenate a plenty.  Those are a couple goals of mine this year: read more for leisure and sleep enough.  Both make me insanely happy and help me be the best me. I've got two books on deck....

Healthy is as healthy does

Ever live a go go go lifestyle and then crash crash crash?  I seem to do that a lot lately.  And I feel the effects terribly when I don't listen up to my own self.  While I do maintain consistent exercise, well balanced meals, and am doing better at getting good sleep, I find myself needing some improvement.  That's not to be negative, I just could stand to evaluate what is working and what is not. For example, I read recently in a magazine Snooki (yes Snooki from Jersey Shore, don't judge, I love her!), stated about when she was binge eating pizza and drinking booze all day er-ry day at the shore, her mind was just dumb.  Foggy.  Groggy.  Icky.  Now that she embraces a clean diet and exercises often, she feels much more able to think straight.  It got me thinking about similar articles and info I've read up about the same kind of logic.   I believe it's safe to surmise that if we are what we eat, then best to not be fast, cheap, ...

#Foodie

Ughhhh.  I am sick.  I got myself some kind of summer cold and it is fierce y'all.  Terrible congestion, sore throat, and just sneeze after sneeze. Ick.  Needless to say, with what little bit of taste sense I have, delicious Chinese food from my very favorite restaurant was a necessary endeavor. I got the chicken with broccoli and veggie fried rice and although it was off the lunch special menu, it offers more than enough for dinner too.  Well well, winner winner, chicken broccoli dinner. So the silver lining to getting sick?  Ordering this deliciousness on the perfect day for my blogging and Instagram challenge because the topic is foodie.  With that, I'm off to try and sleep this bug away.  Sanitize your paws often and drink up the OJ kids. Stay healthy lovies! Until we meet again, M

Nailed It

I have been trying to eat clean for my daily life. Don't get confused, I'm not some die hard believer of that silly saying, "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." Umm, clearly whoever said this, has never had shrimp and grits from the heart of New Orleans. Or raviolis in Little Italy. Or 4 Rivers BBQ. You get the point. But I am conscious of my day to day and the need for healthy eating and living and all that jazz. For example, I don't have a cookie just cause it's a cookie and it's there. I'm not wasting the calories on any ol'choc chip, know what I mean? Some days I fail, some days I soar. I work in an office environment where it's always someone's birthday, therefore there's always someone's cake. And if that doesn't happen, like clockwork at 3pm each day, I hit the crash and feel like if I do not get a sugar fix as soon as like yesterday, I will lose my mind. Basically, I turn into my Poppy and "just n...

Give me a W-A-T-E-R!

I've mentioned before how much I love water. I drink it more than anything and always feel good when I do. There is just nothing to beat it. The hydrating qualities, the ability it has to cure feeling tired, sick, achy, the way it makes skin, hair, and nails be fab-all of it is good to the last drop. So when today's Instagram challenge inquired what I was sippin on, well there could be no better explanation than what's shown above. Now I'm off to sip the rest of my gallons for the night right before bed. Super smart idea BTW. A real hydrated genius I am. Until we meet again, M
