Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing...

Sunday looked a little like this:

Kale, Spinach, Pepper Jack, Onion and Tomato

His and her:

For the win:

Hmm, what else. what else. We both threw on our designated Pandora stations and power cleaned. I'm pretty positive that a cure-all for an ughhh cleancleanclean mentality is the Otis Redding and friends station. How can you not stop and dance when Otis tells you to? That's, like, a sin.

Then, I sat down to do some blogging stuff while Sex and the City played in the background. Read also: SATC is ALWAYS good for the soul. Always.

We ended our day by having dinner with Hunter's parents, sister, and our youngest nephew. Hunter and Connor are what you would call kindred spirits...best friends...homies for life:

My personal fave is the middle one. I mean, is there anything funnier than seeing a little bear throw up his little fist when you say pound it? The correct answer would no. No, there is nothing better/funnier.

The last thing I'll mention is a shout to my gal MM. Marilyn Monroe will always hold a special place in my heart. Her beauty, brains, and want for goodness in the world have always inspired me. Today is her birthday and I do wish she was here to celebrate it and share some awesome stories about life. Since she is not, I share some of my faves of her previously gifted wisdom:

"If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere."
"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot."
"Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition."
"Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are."

Happy Birthday, my hero. May you throw on a mink and paint it up glamorous.

Til we meet again,
M

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T.

While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”.

Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration:

Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better.

Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See what I did t…

Change Has Arrived

New adventures lie ahead.  I've left my full time job in college admissions and am now full time into mine and Hunter's business.  I'm working on a few other ventures so when I know more I'll follow up on that.

I spent 6 years working at my last job and while I always knew I would go to my business full time eventually, it hasn't truly hit me that I'm not just taking some vacation time and spending a few days away.  I'm ready for my new normal though.

It's times like this I love having a lifestyle blog.  I'll look back on this post at some point and the thoughts had, the feelings felt will all come back.  This is a big milestone, leaving a corporate type job and going full speed as a small business owner.  Yay!!

I've got big plans for the next.  Excited for what's to come.

Let's meet again,

Blogtober Day 26, Who would play you in a movie...

Ohhh good one, Blogtober.

Someone once told me I reminded them of Drew Barrymore. They didn't say if it was for look or personality, so I'm not sure where they drew the conclusion from. See what I did there?

I threw this out to one of my very best and oldest friends Andrea. Talking it out, we agreed that Drew and I do share some similar qualities, both in personality and in dressing and accessorizing. Andrea reasoned that Drew is quirky and a little less traditional, much like me. I reasoned we have the same headbands:

I also recalled that when I was a little girl, everyone thought I looked like a young Drew Barrymore. Both my parents have said people would come up to them all the time and remark on my resemblance to her in that movie Firestarter:

Whatever it is, I would absolutely be pleased if Drew played me in a movie.

Now, if Penelope Garcia was a real person and not a character on a TV show (Criminal Minds), she would undoubtedly play me in a movie:
