My CHI-tah, my friend

My last CHI was a hand me down from a friend. It came to me in good/fair condition but during the time I put a roof over its head it decided to start a slow death. A very sad, slow, miserable death. One that required tape to hold the ON switch in place, one where the heat started to generate slower and slower than ever meaning I had to crank up the heat notch all the way. Since I don't straighten or curl my hair and require its uses every day, I'd been able to survive. I know, such a troublesome life I lead.

Per usual routine in our house, Hunter and I have the hardest time holding off from gifting whatever we purchased for one another for whatever holiday it is intended for. Exhibit A is the pictorial evidence above. My Hunter Bear, bless his heart, couldn't contain himself more than 2 days once he made the move to get a hold of the neon CHI-TAH. I will say my Bear knew, with so many events upcoming and reasons to actually do my hair and look more presentable, the early gift would be appreciated. Not only by me but the many who must interact with me and may prefer to look at good hair.

This is a quality tool. I do not simply say this because of the shameful state my previous one came to be in, but really and truly this CHI gives you the opportunity to create stylish hair and look fabulous while doing so! Win-Win, my friends. As always, the heat generates quickly and evenly, and you're able to style your little heart away. I just L-O-V-E this fabulous design more than anything. My hand me down was a basic black CHI. Anyone who knows me well (aka my Bear :)) knows I'm much more wild and wonderful than that ;) Also, the cord on this thing is fantastic. It is quite long and even more so from my previous one. If you're someone like myself who likes to post up in front the tv with your mirror and tools to get it done sometimes, then this is something to get happy over. It extends so far that if you're also trying to do a couple last things around the house whilst getting glammed, you are set. Of course don't do too much while holding a hot tool; no one likes singed ears, fingers or hair.

Just check out the sleekness starting right at the roots. It lasted all day through travel, heat, humidity-aka the devil's breath, and several other factors/ wannabe obstacles. Boommmmm.

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w...

Simple blessings

I’m lying in bed, next to a snoring husband and my baby girl dogter sprawled out cozy as can be, while the rain falls down upon our roof. Gone are the days of spending a Saturday night downtown at a club, throwing beers back in a honky think, or galavanting around to anywhere with the lights on. And I’m not mad about it. Not even a little bit. There is tilt no place I’d rather be than with hunter, Roni and our comfy sweet little home happily netflixing and writing this here post. It’s a good feeling indeed. I count my blessings extra on nights like this and say a few additional prayers for love and comfort to continue on. I truly don’t ask for more than health, happiness, and love. Anything else is gravy. To simple blessings for all.

Blogtober Dayyyy 27! A Letter To Your Younger Self

First of all, this is my 203rd post! I slid right on by the day I hit 200, probably in a haze from writing so many days consistently like this. So I am now thrilled to announce I am moving right along and haven't tapped out. For that I have Blogtober 2014 to give credit to. I am so so so determined to meet my goal of writing all 31 days. Thank you again for linking this up Helene and Taylor !! Now, on to today's topic: A Letter To Your Younger Self Dear 22-27 year old Meggie, Hey, it's me, 29 year old you. Just wanted to check in and cover a couple things that I've learned to be true, so if you want to go ahead and use this insight sooner, have at it. So a few things still stand that I've mentioned to 17 year old you and as I recounted the ten things I've learned since high school . Please keep drinking water over anything else and avoid the hair bleach. But you know, being 29 and thinking back, the ages 22-27 were a huge chapter of your life a...
